1982 – 1984:  Part time employment in three private gym-centres.
1992: Part time employment in Llandrillo College, School of Leisure and Recreation, Colwyn Bay, in North Wales, Britain.
1993 – 2001:  Full-time employment as lecturer and subsequently as assistant professor in the Department of Physical Education, Aristotle’s University of Thessaloniki. Teaching of the course “Sociology of Sport” (1993-2001). Teaching of the course “specialty course Tae-kwon-do” 1994-95. Teaching of the selection  course Tae-kwon-do” in Serres 1993-95 and Thessaloniki 1993-94, 1996-97 και 1997-1998. Teaching of the specialty course “outdoor sporting activities”.
2002-2010: Full-time employment as a Secondary school teacher in three secondary schools. Employment as a temporary member of staff in the Department of Physical Education and Exercise Science in Serres, Aristotle's University (2005-2010) teaching sociology of sport, outdoor activities, information technology, tae-kwon-do.

SPORTING BACKGROUND 


Track and Field       
1974-1979: Intensive training and competing in athletics in National and local championships in the events of 200m. 400m. and 400m. with hurdles.

Tae-kwon-do and other martial arts

1980-2010: Intensive training in Tae-kwon-do from 1980 until recently. Participation and distinction in the 1st British Open Championship of Hung Kuen of Shaolin Kung-Fu (1989). Participation in many contests in Tae-kwon-do and Kung-fu. 5th dan black belt in tae-kwon-do and 1st dan black belt in Hapkido. The black belt 1st dan (W.T.F.) was awarded in 1989 in Manchester,
1987-1992: Working experience as an associate teacher at Manchester Polytechnic Taekwondo Club and head teacher at Rhyl Tae-kwon-do Club.

Orienteering

1986- 2010: Participation in many contests in Britain, Sweden, Bulgaria, Serbia and FYROM. Leading role in the promotion of the sport in Greece. Organizing the first ever International Orienteering race in Greece and the first ever International Conference on orienteering. Conducting many seminars throughout the country.
1988: Certificate as orienteering instructor from the British National Centre of Mountain Activities at Plas y Brenin, Capel Curing, Gwynedd, Wales, U.K.
1996: Organizing he first ever properly conducted orienteering race in Greece.

1997 and 2000: Taking part in a 10 day orienteering seminars in Umeo Sweden and
1998: Organizing he first ever scientific conference about orienteering in Greece. The General Secretary of the International Orienteering Federation Mrs. Barbra Ronnberg gave a speech.
2000: Organizing he first ever international event in Thessaloniki. Except Greeks 85 Scandinavians participated!
2001: First ever participation of a Greek team in the Balkan championship in Strumnitsa, FYROM.

Hiking            
Participation in many trekkings in Greece and abroad.    
Canoe-Kayak
2002: Attending a five-day seminar of sea kayaking in the National Centre of Water sports in Wales, Britain.

 

SOCIAL ACTIVITIES


Documentaries on T.V.
Participation in TV documentaries produced by ET-3. The mountains of Grammos, Varnountas, Triklario and Falakro were described in these documentaries. They were presented many times on television.

Study for the development of outdoor activities in Chania

He was invited by the mayor of Chania in Crete to study an area of interest and present an alternative proposal for the development of the area of Agioi Apostoloi, Chania.
Public speeches about recreation and outdoor activities.
Invited main speaker in numerous public speeches about recreation and orienteering in the cities of Athens, Rodes, Chania, Ptolemaida, Kozani, Edessa, Serres, Makrinitsa Volos, Imeros Komotini etc. Published articles in many magazines and periodicals.



SHORT CURRICULUM VITAE

Koukouris Konstantinos studied Physical Education in the Department of Physical Education, University of Thessaloniki, Greece. He spent seven years in Britain and worked part-time in Llandrillo College, School of Leisure and Recreation, Colwyn Bay, in North Wales, Britain. He was awarded his M. Ed. in Social Sciences and his Ph. D. in Sociology of  Sport  from the Victoria University of Manchester in 1989. The title of his Doctoral Dissertation was “Disengagement of Elite Greek Male Athletes from Competitive Sport”. He worked as full-time senior lecturer in the Department of Physical Education, University of Thessaloniki from 1993-2001. He has eight years teaching experience in the course “Sociology of Sport”. He also taught Tae-kwon-do and outdoor activities at University level. He has published ten articles in international journals (including the International Review for the Sociology of Sport, the Sociology of Sport Journal, the Journal of Sport Behaviour, the Physical Education Review etc.) and 23 papers within Greece. He played a leading role in the promotion of orienteering in Greece. He is a 5th dan black belt in Tae-kwon-do and 1st dan in Hapkido. He is a keen outdoor activities enthusiast.
